Now, this is really cool. Right where they found it here at Cesarea, is an inscription with Pontius Pilate's name on it. (If Sully had been born a couple of thousand years earlier this might have read "Captain Sullenberger, Famous United Airlines Pilot").
This is not the original inscription, but a facsimile, since tourists to Israel cram anything and everything into their suitcases (I've seen it!).
If you can't read below, here it is: "Pontius Pilatus, the prefect of Judaea, erected a building dedicated to the emperor Tiberius."
