What a cool site. This was where Jesus hung out a lot and did some pretty cool stuff, like healing the paralytic lowered through the roof, and Pete's mom-in-law. Not surprising really, since Peter and his bro lived here and maybe the Zebedee boys, James and John.
It was a small but wealthy town, as indicated by the ornate stone work. They've excavated the town and have Peter's house identified (they found some grafitti on the bathroom wall: 'Pete wuz here'). There's the remains of the synagogue so close to Peter's house, you can just picture so many of the events. Just wish I had more time on this trip to read through all the gospels. I'll never read them the same way again.
